FAQ
What about hangars and tiedowns?
Just stopping by for a picnic or an overnight? Park on the grass apron off of the runway. Pilots must supply their own tie-downs or request beforehand to borrow some screw-in style if available. Shoot us an email with your name, tail number, and contact info so we know what's going on if you need to leave your aircraft unattended.
All hangars on the field are privately owned with a land-lease agreement with the Marion Airport Commission. Hangars and long-term transient parking are only available to members of MAC, but we surely can find room for you to spend a night or two if you are stopping by to visit friends or dodge weather.
Contact President Will Glenn to inquire about membership and long-term space for the storage of flying aircraft:

How do I become a member?
If you want to base your plane here, buy a hangar, or get fuel on the regular, you must become a member of MAC.
Here's how:
Have a flying aircraft. Or be actively building one! We like all things that fly.
Read the Bylaws of the Marion Airport Commission [PDF].
Read the Airport Rules [PDF].
Come out to the field to meet existing members and tell us about your aviation background. Park at the gate and walk right on in. Don't drive on the runway... we land there.
Fill out the MAC Membership Application [PDF] and email scanned or e-signed document to Don Carter, Vice President, MAC: dcarter.baldwin@yahoo.com.
Allow a week or so for MAC board members to get together to vote on your membership. If you are accepted, you have one year as a provisional member before becoming a full voting member.
Can I land here?
Yes you can. Observe Federal Aviation Guidelines. Don't do anything stupid. We enjoy cool airplanes. Helicopters too: just be careful with your rotor-wash!
Lounge code: field elevation.
There is most certainly space to park your plane for a few hours or a few days.
Donations left in the air conditioned lounge are welcome. These donations support the MAC and the Experimental Aircraft Association and related educational outreach activities for engaging youth in aviation. If you found our field to be a great experience, please consider helping us keep it up! Anyway you cut it this is probably one of the nicest and cheapest places to stop. We land everything from ultralights to twin turboprop aircraft on the field.
Of course, landing is at your own risk.
Can I park here?
Unless you are a member of the field or are being accompanied by a member, we ask that you park at the main gate, next to the lounge and avoid driving around any of the hangars. There's all sorts of soft spots to avoid and the last thing we want to see happen is a car encounter an airplane in the worst way. The field is very walkable. You are more than welcome to park and walk around to meet friends or watch planes.
Can I fuel here?
Avgas (100LL) is only available to MAC members. In case of emergency, reach out to our emergency contact after you have safely landed and secured your aircraft.
Is anyone home?
You won't be stranded. People live on the field. There's always someone around to keep an eye on things and lend a hand.
Can I camp here?
Airplane camping, where your sleeping arrangements (i.e. tent) fit within the space occupied by your parked aircraft next to the runway, is permitted. Restroom, wifi, air conditioned and heated lounge available right next to the main gate. Good luck cowboy. Leave contact information for any equipment or aircraft that you leave in the lounge, just in case we need to get ahold of you. Do not leave trash or any other equipment behind. Consider leaving a donation to the MAC and EAA chapter in the lounge if you found your experience to be pleasant at 9A9. If you
